Seal Away
So my patient for today left me a message this morning that she was sick and not comming in. I couldn't find anyone so I had Jenny come in. Aiden was reaking havock almos the whole appointment which made it very difficult. but he eventually fell asleep. I cleaned all four quads and passed off my air powder polisher PE. I also sealed tooth number 15 and tried to pass off my sealant PE but the etched area got contanminated with saliva and had to be reetched. Because they had to tell me that it needed to be reetched I didn't pass but I will pass it off next time. I felt like it was very good for me to have Jenny come in. She has been using the Oral B Triump power toothbrush and so her gums were very healthy and tight. It made it alot harder for me to clean her without hurting her. She kept telling me I was poking her. It made me realize that I am probably hurting my patients alot and need to work on my adaptation.;

Completed my first class II
So my pt who is mentally handicapped came back in today and I was able to scale all four quads but it took me the whole time in clinic. He was classiffed at his last appointment as a class II because of his calculus. I am glad that instructor Vining is now over my pod in clinic. It is nice to get a guy's perspective, plus I feel like he is helping me with my instrumentation alot. I only had two spots I missed in all four quads when he did my scale check. It seems to me that I miss the distal of #29 alot so I am going to try to catch that next time I clean.

Another Cancelation
So my patient a guy I work with named Rudy canceled on me yesterday. Luckily I was able to get this lady my peer pal had reffered to me in. Her name is Christina. I was able to get through OD take x-rays and scale 2 quads. So I felt pretty good about that. I was hoping that she would be classified as a class II or a class IV patient because she had a lot of bone loss and furcations. But Instructor Hafen said she would only classify her as a IB because even though she had bone loss and recession she did not have disease or pocketing. Her recession was from brushing too hard. But it's all good. She is going to bring in her son with her at her next appointment so that I can start on him once I finish her.

Took a PANO
Manuel came back today and I was able to take a PANO for his wisdom teeth. Awesome. It came out great too! i finished scaling him but I went slightly over time and got talked to by instructor Vining about finishing on time. I only had half a quad left though when time for patient walkout came so I wasn't going to bring him back for half a quad. I felt like going a little over on time was a much better option even though I got in trouble.

Kim is Done
So today Kim came back in and I was able to finish cleaning her. I was supposed to also clean her son, but Stephanies patient didn't show so I let her take him. It sucks though because I have to find one more kid to clean now. But Stephanie reffered Kim to me when I had a patient cancel last minute a couple of weeks ago, so I felt it was only right for me to let her clean Parker (Kim's son) since her patient didn't show.
