Denture PE
Today i had my grandpa come in so that I could clean his denture and pass off my denture PE. His health history was so long it took me over an hour to look everything up and write it all down. But I passed off my PE and then I saw Christina's son again and cleaned all four quads in his mouth. It was a good day.

Finished my IA requirements
Today I saw a little boy who had calculus plastered all over the facial and lingual surfaces of 24 & 25. You couldn't even see the crown of the tooth. His mom told me that his teeth came in that way and that a dentist had told her that the only way to fix them was to crown or veneer them. He did have slight enamel hypoplasia on them but most of the nasty looking stuff was calculus. So they probably didn't come in that way. They would have only come in with the enamel hypoplasia. I scaled it all off and showed his mom. She was so happy. I was supposed to see his sister too but ran out of time because Stephanie and I sealed some of his teeth. Luckily Lauren had a pt cancel in the afternoon and she was able to get the sister in later in the day. I apologized to the mom and said I was sorry that I ran out of time and that I really thought that I would have enough time to see them both when I originally scheduled them. She was fine with the fact that I spent more time on her son and was just so happy that the calculus was gone and his teeth looked so much better. She kept telling me that she didn't know it was that bad and that she really thought that it wouldn't come off. She was really happy with the cleaning her son got. The good thing is that I hung out for the afternoon to see if I could take any x-rays at midtown and got to finish my sealant requirements on his sister that Lauren saw. I also took 1 PA on Mr. Salomon but that was all the x-rays I did in the afternoon.

Sucess I found a class III
So because so many of the people in our class had not found their class III pts Professor Costley opened up a special clinic session today for screenings. I had a lady come in that I had had Karina to for me two days ago when she (the pt) was in the foyer waiting for someone at midtown. She spoke spanish, that is why I couldn't talk to her myself. The great thing is she is a class III. I feel so much relief and I have a real shot now at finishing my minimum requirements for clinic this semester. YEAH!!!!

Long Day
Today was a long day. I took an extra clinic session and came in the morning to clean Vaden. I had done the OD on him forever ago and had not been able to get him in due to schedule conflincts. Today I took some x-rays on him and cleaned all four quads. Then this afternoon during my regular clinic time I treated another IB pt. Unfortunately, a second year student had taken x-rays on her and sent her on her way to be put on the resource list; I didn't know it before I scheduled her. They basically did a screening. So I could not take any x-rays. I am really worried about my x-ray requirements. I might have to bring someone in and do nothing but x-rays in order to meet requirements. I still need two full mouths and some bitewings. I did however finish Ember all in one appointment. It was a good day cleaning 8 quads.

Stress, Stress, and More Stress!!!!
So last week we had spring break which was really nice. Last night however I called my patient to confirm his appointment and found out from his wife that he is sick. So at about 8:30 last night I started frantically calling people trying to find a patient. I came in this morning still with no patient. I was praying and frantically calling people on the resource list hoping that I could get someone to come in last minute. The clinic opens at 8 and at 8:30 a girl came into the clinic and said she needed a cleaning and x-rays. The CA asked her if she had an appointment and she said "no." They immediately told me and I got her back as quickly as I could. When it came time to walk out our pts I still wasn't done because I got started a half hour late. She was just a IB with a few cavities nothing major. So I told my instructor that I didn't really have time to get her back in for another appointment because they were all booked and asked for some extra time. She told me I could have 15 minutes I still ended up taking 30 by the time all was said and done. I think she docked me on my professionalism for going over time but honestly I still finished her in the same amount of time I just got started 30 minutes late. I was just happy that I got her done in one appointment.

Another 2 quads, x-ray and an OD
Today Christina came back and I finished claening her last two quads. She also brought her son in so I took x-rays on him and did his OD. He is twelve but not all of his baby teeth have fallen out and been replaced so he counts as a IA. I will get him in again to clean on another day.

I need to learn Spanish
Today I had another spanish speaking patient. I really wish I knew how to speak spanish. It would make things so much easier. She was a class II who was my peer pals mock board patient. Katee had already taken x-rays on her for and cleaned one quad for mock boards. She didn't need the other quads though so she refered her to me. Because Katee took the x-rays I couldn't take any but I got three more quads of class two done today. Yeah!

Class II
Today I saw a class II patient that was reffered to me by a second year student. He spoke spanish so I had a translator there for a little bit of the appointment. I was able to get throught the OD and clean 1 quad. Overall it the appointment was good but I couldn't take x-rays because he had been seen at midtown and had a bunch taken. I hope I will make my x-ray requirements. I scheduled another appointment to finish himfor next week.
